Democrats who are calling the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act or the SAVE America Act, Jim Crow 2.0, are they practicing political hyperbole, or are they nothing more than serial hypocrites?

The Proposed Legislation:
This bill requires individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote and requires photo identification to vote in federal elections.
Specifically, the bill prohibits states from accepting and processing an application to register to vote in a federal election unless the applicant presents documentary proof of U.S. citizenship. The bill specifies which documents are acceptable proof of U.S. citizenship, such as identification that complies with the REAL ID Act of 2005 and indicates U.S. citizenship.
The proposed law (1) prohibits states from registering an individual to vote in a federal election unless, at the time the individual applies to register to vote, the individual provides documentary proof of U.S. citizenship; and (2) requires states to establish an alternative process to demonstrate U.S. citizenship.
Each state must take affirmative steps on an ongoing basis to ensure that only U.S. citizens are registered to vote, including establishing a program to identify individuals who are not U.S. citizens using information from certain sources.
Additionally, states must remove noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters.
The bill (1) provides for a private right of action for certain violations, and (2) establishes criminal penalties for certain offenses.
Individuals voting in federal elections must present an eligible photo identification document. An individual who votes by absentee ballot must submit a copy of their identification document with both the request for, and the submission of, the absentee ballot.
The most vocal critic is Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. Calling the proposed legislation Jim Crow 2.0. Does this contradict his political views from 30 years ago???
Recently, a video has surfaced showing Senate Democratic leader Charles E. Schumer back in 1996 (then serving in the House of Representatives ) advocating for the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act, which included ID checks to prevent welfare fraud by illegal immigrants.
In the video footage, Schumer emphasizes the need for robust identification measures, stating,
“Let’s admit the truth. Everywhere people go, they’re asked for a Social Security card. In fact, one way to prove you’re a bona fide person who can have a job is to ask for a driver’s license and a social security card.”
In 1996, Schumer supported verifying identity through documents such as driver’s licenses and Social Security cards as a fundamental way to ensure eligibility for employment and public benefits. Now, thirty years later, it seems he has reversed his view 180°!
Is this just another Democrat flip-flop, or is it race-baiting??? Or could it be signs of Trump Derangement Syndrome???
You judge for yourself!
OHB…keeping real…I AM THE REAL BROTHER LOUIE!
